Cough, Cough, Cough, Cough, Cough

This is about the only sound that comes from my lips these days. For two straight weeks.

Cough, cough, cough.

Boy, is it hard to take care of a ten-month old when you are sick! Grace, of course, doesn't understand why Mommy cannot make it to the kitchen to get her bottle because she is doubled over coughing to death.

I am so paranoid about Grace getting sick that as soon as I knew it was more than just a little cold, I ran to the doctor with my white flag waving. I had a fever at night for almost a week at that point.

Please help me get rid of this so I do not spread it to my precious ten-month old.

The PA did not even listen to my breathing. (And of course I didn't even notice until I had been sent out the door). Even though I tested negative for strep throat, she treated me for it anyway. In and out.

Today, a round of useless medicine later, I ended up back at the doctor. This time, I requested to see someone different. Apparently I have a pretty nasty case of bronchitis. As an added bonus, I may have to get a chest x-ray to rule out damage (that could have been caught if I had been diagnosed last week). PLUS, my weary and weakened immune system left me with a nasty rash. ON MY FACE. Good times.

On the bright side of life, Grace is TEN MONTHS OLD today. My own beautiful little ray of sunshine!

Oh, no! It's so hard to be sick when you have little ones to take care of! Hope you feel better soon.

I get sick every.single.time. that my husband goes out of town, leaving me to take care of the boys while I'm sick.

I'm sorry that you are sick - and that it could have been taken care of earlier!! Sometimes doctors are truly useless!

YAY for your little one being a whole 10 months old today, though!! How wonderful!!

Aww *hugs* hope it clears up soon. (I've seen three different doctors in the last 4 weeks, and going to a different one on Thursday.)

boo to being sick and boo to lackadaisical medical "professionals" who are too busy or complacent to do a proper exam and prescribe correct treatment.

I hope you get better soon!

...and thanks for your thoughtful comment on my Christmas post!

Oh, i'm so sorry hon. I've had two serious boughts of flu already this winter and I'm coughing a lot; poor husband is suffering a lot worse though. My little boy was off school for a week...nightmare, trying to look after him and get the girls to school whilst sick...but we got through it. Of course, now eldest coughing....aaargh! 2009 will go down in memory. I hope your beautiful wee lass stays well and happy 10 months to her! xx

Happy 10 months to your little sunshine and good for you for trusting your gut and asking to see someone else for that cough.

My son is doing a neb treatment as I type this. He has cough-varient asthma and has been going at it since last night. Poor dude.

Hot tea and honey seems to help---and vicks vapor rub! I think I am going to permanently smell like Vicks vapor rub.

Feel better soon. It's very hard to play momma when you are so sick.

I know doctors are busy and some are pretty good at diagnosis, but would it kill some of them to give you maybe 3 more minutes of his or her time and attempt to, I don't know, TREAT YOU???

Sorry, I just feel your pain.

I hope your new drugs are fantastic

Hope you feel better soon and that Grace doesn't catch whatever it is that you have...I understand your fear of spreading something to your baby! When I was nursing our son he always caught what I had...thankfully he always bounced back pretty quickly though, little ones are good at that! Blessings!

How awful!!! I can't believe that PA! One time a PA didn't give me a steroid inhaler, a month of coughing later I went to my real doctor and got fixed up.
:-(

Happy 10months to your little Angel!

Boo. :(
This made me chuckle a bit though.
I was just telling hubby today when we were watching our 5-month old sleep and marveling over her, "Thank God For Bronchitis".

The antibiotics caused my birth-control to fail and brought her to us.

And what is it with doctors lately? We took our little one to the ER in September for some intense cough she was having and they did a chest x-ray and said she had pneumonia. The cough didn't go away after a couple weeks, we come back and it turns out it was stryder cough, a symptom of baby GERD. They can't get anything right in one shot!
